Harrison Foy, DVM

Dr. Harrison Foy was born in Goldsboro, N.C. and lived there until the age of eleven before moving with his family to Miami, Florida. Harrison graduated from Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN with a BS degree in Animal Science and from Tuskegee University with both a BS degree in Agriculture and the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1975.

He served in the U.S Army as Chief of Animal Disease and Prevention at Walter Reed Army Medical Facilities in Washington, D.C for 3 years.  He started a private practice in 1978, while remaining in the Army Reserves for eight years.  Creating two practices – one in Washington, DC and the other in Silver Springs, MD – he was in practice with his partner and classmate for 30 years before selling and retirement.

Over those 30 years, many prospective veterinarians came through the doors of the two clinics.  They were given the opportunity to work in the practices where they were encouraged and/or mentored and provided practical knowledge of business ownership. He has been an active member of the local DELMAR-VA DC Tuskegee Veterinary Medical Alumni Association supporting the mission of the organization and the TUSVM.  He continues to visit local schools, health forums and other invited venues to promote the veterinary medical profession and TUSVM as a place to obtain one’s professional training.   He received the 2015 TVMAA Alumni Service award from the Tuskegee Veterinary Medical Alumni Association during their annual scientific symposium.

Dr. Foy came out of retirement after the youngest daughter graduated from high school and went to college. He became a Business Partner and Chief of Staff with Banfield Pet Hospital, the international corporate practice that provides clients with wellness plan options. Dr. Foy created the first "Prepaid Preventative Health Plan" in the Washington, DC metropolitan area in 1978 in his practice. After a year with the company, he received a prestigious national award from Banfield for his superior leadership and service at his clinic location and recognized his leadership and innovative ideas in the clinics including the area of dentistry.  He was identified by the corporation as a major asset for mentoring interning and rotating veterinary students as well as for new Banfield associates.

Having always been an innovative thinker, Dr. Foy started his plan for a mobile practice in 1996, for the purpose of providing veterinary care to that segment of the population that wanted concierge veterinary care.  This would allow more flexibility with clients – some who might have physical disabilities, multiple pet households and pets that were stressed in the clinic.   Before leaving Banfield in 2013, he realized the plan by creating N-Motion Home Veterinary Care, Inc.  One goal of this business is to create a non-profit side to support local educational programs and provide opportunities for students to study in the veterinary medical field.

Dr. Foy continues to willingly share his knowledge and experience to inspire others.  Dr. Foy is an active member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Gamma Pi chapter and the Tennessee State University Alumni Association - Rho Psi chapter.  He actively engages in recruiting high caliber students from the Washington, DC, metro area to attend and often receive scholarships to attend the university.  Dr. Foy is married to Dr. SanYvette Williams-Foy, a veterinarian. They have a daughter, Mari-Ashli, who is a senior in veterinary medicine in Georgia.
