Melvin White
Melvin White is a 1961 graduate of Huston-Tillotson College. He retired in 1997 from the Federal Government after 32 years of service. Mr. White spent over 20 years with the General Services Administration, Public Buildings Service, where he managed information technology systems and a support staff responsible for the management of all federally owned and leased buildings nationwide including the White House. Other employments include mathematics and science teacher in the Texas Public Schools System, mathematician with the Defense Mapping Agency, and a scientific programmer with Lockheed Electronics Company, Houston Aerospace Division. Mr. White is currently a licensed Realtor specializing in residential real estate in Prince George’s County and Washington, DC.
Mr. White is a former president of Friendship Charities Foundation (FCFI) Board of Directors and has been an elected member of the Board of Directors since its inception. His philosophy of community service is: “All law abiding citizens have a right to be accepted in their community and afforded options to meet their basic life needs with alternatives to achieve self esteem”. He works in many capacities to promote the goals and mission of the Foundation. He is instrumental in networking with individuals, organizations and companies seeking donations and grants in support of FCFI community based programs. He represents FCFI on several committees with the Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce. Other organizations Mr. White is affiliated with are Huston-Tillotson University Alumni Association, L C Anderson High School Alumni Association, National Association of Realtors, and Board of Directors for Swann Hill Condominium Association and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
